Stuck at home and aching to travel? Or did your study abroad program to South Korea get cancelled because of the pandemic? Why not get a taste of Korean student life from the very comforts of your bedroom? I was scrolling my Instagram feed when Lee Min-ho oppa caught my eye. Having just binge watched the King: Eternal Monarch on Netflix, I swooned over that post.

Little did I know that post led me to discover a passion — driven organization that celebrates cultural diversity! Studec International Education Group is an education consultant based in Indonesia that prepares youths for a life — changing experience abroad. Studec values the importance for youths to build an international network, to upgrade their hard and essential skills, as well as to participate in cultural exchange and volunteerism.

Through the Studec Academy, the organization manages a virtual course under the title of ‘Global Korea E-Course’. ‘Global Korea E-Course’ is a collaboration program between Studec Academy and top South Korean universities to promote Korea’s successful education system. The course program consists of learning simulations based on what actual Korean university students experience on campus.

During the 5 hours of the program, participants are guided along a comprehensive and interactive introduction to Korean university life. This includes a Korean Culture & Language Class by professional Korean teachers, a session sharing insights on Korean Global Scholarship applications, a virtual campus orientation guided by the representative of the university, an innovation class from the university’s student ambassador. These sessions all lead up to the final presentation competition where participants are given a hands — on opportunity to interact with other virtual students.

The first time ‘Global Korea E-Course’ was organized in mid-July, over a hundred participants attended the program, leading to its great success! The program collaborated with Dankook University, the first university established after the National Liberation Day of Korea. The second class of the ‘Global Korea E-Course’ brings participants to Konkuk University which claimed the number one spot as a private university in South Korea. The university also has the reputation as the ‘Korean Hollywood Campus’ since many of its alumni have gone on to become popular artists, the most famous one being BTS Jin and Lee Min Ho!

Excited to experience the Korean university student life? Check out their website at http://studecacademy.com/korea/ to stay tuned to the next round of the ‘Global Korea E-Course’!
